I was meeting with my classmate. We were studying together and knew each other for years.

I am 21, I have a "9-5" job, but it does not pay enough for me to live alone. I have the irrational fear of rejection, the impression everyone is engaged in some way, and I'm really awkward around people I don't know, to the point of avoiding eye contact and answering only with single words or forced smiles. I also have the feeling I've failed as a member of society.

Ouch. I thought you were in the 13-16 range.

I had the same problem as you. Looks like I got rid of it at an early age.I overcame it by reading psychology books and talking to the right people. Once I understood how the brain and communal systems work, my problems were gone. Like poof.

The only one here who has less than 16 is Boingo.
