I think it could be both.
But when I saw the small blue lines around it in the SubVerse version it reminded me of the Layer of Light's white path.

What is more bugging for me is the fact that it shatters the room.
It seems that both Karmic seals and Karma Portals can shatter the structure of the dimension.
